These tests are designed to comprehensively evaluate the safety performance of products under both normal operating conditions and fault scenarios by simulating various potential electrical safety risks. This process safeguards the personal safety and property of users, ensures compliance with relevant national and international safety standards and regulatory requirements, and prevents substandard products from entering the market and causing harm to consumers.
For many enterprises, the cumbersome nature of final safety inspections poses a significant challenge. To streamline operations and enhance efficiency on the production line, companies often adopt ”all-in-one” safety testers. The RK9970A-3 integrates multiple core safety testing functions—including insulation resistance, ground resistance, leakage current, withstand voltage, low-voltage startup, and power testing—into a single unit, meeting the need for rapid testing across various types of electrical products. Operators avoid the hassle of frequently switching between instruments or rewiring; instead, they simply configure parameters and connect the sample to launch a preset test sequence with a single click. This drastically reduces the testing cycle per unit and significantly boosts overall production line efficiency.
Furthermore, these all-in-one testers typically feature intuitive interfaces and intelligent data management systems. They provide real-time data display and automatic pass/fail assessment, while also supporting data storage, retrieval, and export. These capabilities facilitate quality traceability and production process analysis, effectively minimizing testing errors caused by human factors and providing reliable technical support for maintaining strict control over product safety and quality.
The connection between the earthing terminal or earthing contact and the earthed metal parts shall have low resistance.
This requirement does not apply to connections providing earth continuity within a protective extra-low voltage (PELV) circuit if the clearances for basic insulation are based on the rated voltage of the appliance.
Compliance is checked by the following test:
A current equal to 1.5 times the rated current of the appliance or 25 A (whichever is greater), derived from a source with a no-load voltage not exceeding 12 V (a.c. or d.c.), is passed between the earthing terminal or earthing contact and each accessible metal part in turn.
The voltage drop between the earthing terminal of the appliance or the earthing contact of the appliance inlet and the accessible metal part is measured. The resistance is calculated from the current and the voltage drop; this resistance shall not exceed 0.1 Ω.
Portable appliances intended for connection to more than one supply shall not be fitted with more than one supply connection means. Stationary appliances intended for connection to more than one supply may be fitted with more than one supply connection means, provided that there is adequate insulation between the relevant circuits.
NOTE 1: Appliances may require more than one supply connection means where electricity is supplied at different tariffs during the day and night.
Compliance is checked by inspection and by the following test:
A substantially sinusoidal voltage of 1250 V at a frequency of 50 Hz or 60 Hz is applied between each pair of supply connection means for a duration of 1 min.
